Testing Web Applications on Android Devices Using AWS Device Farm

“ I have checked the documents of AWS for testing web applications on android devices using aws device farm. Amazon Device Farm makes it easy for users to test the application. In terms of cost, the solution is cheaper and secure.”

AWS Device Farm is an application testing service that lets you improve the quality of your web and mobile applications by testing them across an extensive range of desktop browsers and real mobile devices, without having to provision and manage any testing infrastructure. The service allows you to concurrently run your tests on multiple desktop browsers or real devices to speed up the execution of your test suite and device farm generates videos and logs to help you quickly identify issues with your application.

In this post, you will experience testing web applications on android devices using aws device farm. Here I have created a mobile device project with a run of application.

Architecture Overview

The architecture diagram shows the overall deployment architecture with data flow, amazon device farm and mobile application.

Solution Overview

The blog post consists of the following phases:

  1. Create of Project with Run in Amazon Device Farm
  2. Output of Passed Run for Mobile Device Project

Phase 1: Create of Project with Run in Amazon Device Farm

  1. Open the Amazon Device Farm console, click on the next option. On the mobile device projects tab, create a mobile project with the project name. Also we can keep the execution role if required. Once the project is created, on the automated tests tab create a run.

  1. Create run with select of app and run type, configure test with default values. Also keep other parameters value as default for device selection and run settings. Then choose confirm and start run. Once the run is complete, we will have passed output.

Phase 2: Output of Passed Run for Mobile Device Project

Pricing

I review the pricing and estimated cost of this example.

AWS Device Farm = AWS Device Farm USW2-Android-Device-Minute-Trial = AWS Device Farm Android Metered Trial Device Minutes x 8.183 Minutes = $0.00

Total Cost = $0.00
