Participating in Hacktoberfest for the first time ever! Got some progress on stickers :D
1 thing though I tried to join the MLH discord, also, verified my MLH account but for the final step it says introduce yourself but it shows on the group: I don't have permission to message in the group.

Can you help me out Sir @francistrdev when you get free(its not a critical issue😅), cause I'm not able to find any solution.
On the MLH discord server, they have the option for you to send in a ticket of the issue on discord if you head over to the "Server Guide".
I need to see more than just the screenshot since I haven't got that far in (I don't have my phone verified lol).
No worries, I had created ticket yesterday. It'll be answered may be in a few days, I just wanted to know if I could do anything, cause I'm new to discord too and I see alot of people joining and messaging and I don't have permission😅.
No worries, Have A Great Day!
No problem. It seems that your issue is resolved now haha
Yes! My bad, right now I found that even though you add your MLH account, you've to add your discord to the MLH account, like you add your github to DEV. And then I closed the ticket myself!😄
This week I had to read about a hundred comments. In general, I don’t know how it feels, but thanks to everyone who supported me!! 💋💋 There's nothing more to say to me. The report has been submitted! Well, now what, digital detox?
btw, I started writing an article. I'll try the "lesson" format, but knowing my style, I'll get through every word again lol. I've already given up writing it. But I think if I make this public, maybe I will have some sense of responsibility, yeah....
Doing a lot of interesting stuff with Jev
Getting to take a substantial part in launching Hacktoberfest this year 🙂
Happy Hacktoberfest!
Everything You Need To Know About Hacktoberfest 2026: AI Belongs to Everyone 🎃
I was generally able to hold my composure after being asked to resign. Not an easy thing to do. I am in limbo as I hold my position. Super awkward, but still able to be professional while stomach is in knots.
A win, but not one I want to deal with. 😂
Closed 100+ browser tabs!
I could finally make my peace with them 🤣🥰
I feel like I always have 100+
I’ll most likely build up to that number again, soon enough 🤣
I discovered vertical tabs recently. Its a whole new world.
I do use vertical Tabs with Tab Groups.
But still, 100+ tabs across 20+ Tab groups, it's a distraction to say the least 🤣
Time for some CSS grid-tabs? Than run a cron job for a snake game on the tabs 😂 i wonder if this is at all possible 🤔
I am 3 weeks into my new job as a software engineer.
Got back to posting here regularly after a short break. Feels good to be back to writing and sharing with the DEV community, I missed it :)
I took a few days off my laptop to roam around New Orleans, LA with family!
Joined DEV this week and moved five of my blog posts over. The one I'm proudest of is a study where I gave the same short story to eight LLMs and DeepL, then had models from four different makers grade the translations blind. The ranking surprised me more than once.
Also Closed zero browser tabs though, so Fayaz is still winning :)
Got my Hacktoberfest event approved by MLH 💪 and officially:
Organized entirely by a solo student
Hacktoberfest Is Coming to Nadiad, Gujarat 🚀 Official MLH Meetup at DDU, 15 Oct
I just want people around me to know about opportunities like DEV, MLH and Hacktoberfest. And start early unlike me, as I started just 3-4 months ago and I'm a Final year student.😅
Also, this is my first time doing an event cause I'm not even part of any college club😂, but still managed to get a small team of volunteers!
Congratulations! Excited to see how it goes 😀
Thanks! I'll share that experience, too!😄
Wrapped up the sprint with 100% of our deliveries and presented at the sprint review. Also, my first game project finally has music and sound, and it feels like a real game now. 🎮
After 3 years waiting to pipeline operator will be part of javascript, I am stand up and fork TypeScript and implement #F like pipeline operator under TS / TSX also. So any one can try it!
Hacktoberfest: Maintainer Spotlight
I added a type-checked pipeline operator to TypeScript — including TSX
Also I started making the friend competition app, which is ....
Finally shipped a working version of ApplyPack, a self-hosted job search tool. And two of my friends already got interview invites, so I'm really glad it wasn't for nothing 🙂
Where are you confguring the sites ? I do have some ideas for ATS site and ash* related workday sites application.
We made a complete demo on Open Telemetry. Article and video will be soon published on DEV.to ;-p
My win: the comments on my last post here turned into real fixes. Two readers showed me ways to test my MCP server that I'd never have found alone. One found a tool that had been failing in production for days behind 79 green tests. The other's idea now blocks any deploy where the server changes but its version doesn't. I folded everything into a step-by-step path for building and shipping your own MCP server: worklore.dev/paths/build-and-ship-...
Smaller, humbling win: I made my server's usage public. 3,700 connections, 147 tool calls, zero real users. Almost every connection is a bot checking it's alive. Still counts! 😄
I won Hacktoberfest Hack Day Kolkata x Club404 Aucse in Best Open-Source AI Project catagory on 1st October, Our team got an Aurdina UNO. But i would be more happy if we got a Hacktoberfest T-shirt.
Regardless that it was an amazing experience
This is a really interesting way to look at a job search because you’re treating it as a system instead of just an emotional experience.
The part that stood out to me is the distinction between “application volume” and “opportunity generation.” 59 applications sounds like the main metric, but once you separate rejection, screening, interview, silence, and opportunities coming from outside the funnel, the picture becomes much more useful.
I’d actually take this one step further and track the funnel like a product funnel:
Application → Viewed → Response → Screening → Interview → Offer
Then add the source and role type to each step.
For example, if 40 software-engineering applications produce almost no human interaction while 8 technical-writing applications produce an interview, that doesn’t automatically mean “become a technical writer.” It tells you where to investigate: positioning, targeting, portfolio evidence, market, or simply sample size.
And the Sinch example makes the whole experiment more interesting. A traditional application funnel can be performing poorly while a “build → publish → demonstrate → opportunity” funnel is already producing something tangible.
That’s probably the biggest takeaway for me: don’t optimize for the number of applications. Optimize the system that turns your skills and evidence into opportunities.
Really Appriciate Your Massage Sir 🫡
My win this week was honestly just taking a break. My brain needed one, so I actually listened to it for once!
My win this week is, I shipped AlphaRank (alpharank.art), a battle arena for art, built for the Sanity Challenge. Upload your art, face the AI judge, and fight for the top spot on the leaderboard. I hope your art scores well.

My win this week is basically just grinding SEO for my site 😄
I’ve been working on squishyfile.com, a collection of free video tools, like video compression, video-to-text, video upscaling.
Most of the work lately has been improving the tools, creating useful pages around them, and slowly building up organic traffic. Nothing crazy yet, but seeing the site gradually pick up impressions and clicks from search is pretty satisfying.
Still a long way to go, but it’s finally starting to feel like the SEO work is paying off 🚀
Making my first Claude Mod

A bit late, but I finally took part in Hacktoberfest 2026.

Finally launched my app 🫣

I followed recent Karpathy style documentation, and then it become like whole project documentation. not only readme, but a whole doc producing machine with validation and architecture plus whole new style of documentation.
My win this week: shipped a complete app from idea to release without touching the code myself. A personal time tracker with a web app, phone layout, PWA, Chrome extension and a landing page, built in my spare time after work. I designed the architecture, and Claude wrote all the code. Wrote about how it went: I built a time tracker without touching the code
The app itself, not an ad, just bragging: overdraft.nomad4.tech
Not gonna call it a win, but I’ve been trying several tools lately to optimize the SEO for both my personal website and my agency’s.
One of the funniest experiments? Tried TanStack, only to roll everything back to Next.js. 😂🤦♂️ Hilarious.
And more recently, I’ve also been working on an OSS project focused on optimizing and analyzing GEO/AEO. Dropping the link below for contributors who want to help out.
Sponsors are welcome too, we need access to more LLMs for testing and benchmarking across different models.
If you’re into SEO, GEO/AEO, LLMs, or just want to contribute to an OSS project, jump in. 🚀

got mentioned by dev community on linkedin
well ... I wrote my second article for dev.to and now have two times no reads. That's a win, ain't it? :-P
I also created a full video from my own storyboard with music, foley, narration and final editing using various AI systems and I am really happy with the result. While AI won't get me to abandon everything that goes into making movies, I can now say with certainty that it has its place in the toolbox along with Photoshop, Samplitude and a hammer.
Continued working on two songs (lyrics, composition), which I still don't let YuE2 (or the outdated SUNO) do and made some progress in my singing practice. So all in all ... it's been a good week.
We finally launched Octri.dev on product hunt today! I can’t explain how excited I am especially with the amount of engagement we are getting right now from our first ever launch!

Built a quick tool with Whisper and Make to help a friend in construction stop wasting 2 hours every night entering audio notes into spreadsheets. Wrote a post about how it works for the Weekend Challenge if anyone wants to take a look: Read the story & technical breakdown
Participating in Hacktoberfest for the first time ever, and made the following project for my weekend 1 submission!
Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge: Build for a Friend Submission 🤝
Pīzhù 批注: a writing tutor that never rewrites your essay, built for my friend Joy (Gemma 4)
A lot of things happened really. Got my latest backend certification from freeCodeCamp, I am now rank 2Kyu in Codewars (ranked within the top 3000), also finally starting my full stack web application. Busy but a lot of progress has been made.
Today found this site. Was intrigued by an AI agent posting its services. Set up my own agent on its platform iLands.app. Used the agent to get unstuck on a project I have been putting off for a few months.
The project is to create some visuals and display them on a Next.js site for my running club. It hardcoded the CSV file of running times into my home page which is possibly not ideal but it did create a bar chart for free and I pushed it to GitHub and onto a test website.
So a pretty successful day.
Learnt a load of stuff. Got unstuck.
Small one, but it's the kind I'm proudest of: I'd published a result from my partner's futures trades (her hand exits beat any fixed bracket I could fit) based on public minute bars. This week she exported her own bars from NinjaTrader, all 293 entries matched, and the result flipped: the bracket came out ahead. So the win is that the tool now reads her CSV format, every number in the sample report was recomputed on her data, and the original post has a correction paragraph instead of a quiet edit. Also added a resample check so the next time a number looks like an edge, the report says how often noise would produce it (66% this time, i.e. not much of an edge).
"Open Sourcing Wix" ...
Sharing a very good article here on devto on forward deployed engineering :)
I joined the dec recently and am trying to make articles, I will be glad if you go to my profile, thank you guys
Won the buttle between My site and Curse boo
I have started working on a project called NoteTally.
Details: sasivarnan.com/projects/notetally
Link: notetally.onslate.in/
Shipped ProgressCut - local macOS app that cuts a coding session down to a GIF or short video. Also wrote up how the algorithm works and published the article. Pretty happy with how the week went.
Got an internship, shifted to a new city.
Finally submitted Dock to chrome extension store.
With Dock, you can manage those many PWA windows opened by Google meet better. And that’s one of the many use cases.
I launched Artbucket: github.com/pwnera/artbucket
I wrote and launched another article for my project :)
