A friend was bleeding ~$295/month on subscription creeps and zombies. They would not hand a fintech app their bank login — and they should not have to.
GhostSub
GhostSub is my Hacktoberfest — Build for a Friend entry: in-browser CSV analysis, creep/zombie detection, optional FTC Click-to-Cancel and Regulation E affidavit drafts (Gemma), and a Friend-Split flow so Kevin can help without seeing raw transactions.
- Repo: https://github.com/aiwithrajan/hacktoberfest-build-for-a-friend
- Zero-knowledge: parsing stays in the browser
- Open models: TabPFN-style features + heuristics; letters optional via local Gemma
Demo
Download the voiced walkthrough (load demo CSV → issue inspector → Friend-Split):
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aiwithrajan/hacktoberfest-build-for-a-friend/main/demo/chunks/download-video.sh | bash
Why it matters
Rocket Money-style tools work — if you trust them with credentials. GhostSub is the friend who sits next to you with a spreadsheet and a stamp, not a root password.
Built for #devchallenge #weekendchallenge #hf26challenge.
