Hey everyone! Tired of manually opening dozens of files just to find that one specific document or snippet?
I built YF Meaning Finder—a lightweight Python desktop app that lets you search through your files using plain English queries based on what the file's content is actually about, powered by the Gemini API.
⚠️ Important Note: Do NOT use v1! Version 1 had massive performance bottlenecks, bloated file sizes, and lacked core features. Please use v2 only.
🚀 What's New in v2?
- Gemini API Key Input Box: Added a seamless settings/input box right in the app UI so you can plug in your own API key instantly.
- Drastically Reduced File Size: Optimized dependencies and assets, shrinking the overall app size from 250MB+ down to ~150MB.
- Blazing Fast Indexing: Rewritten indexing pipeline that processes and embeds documents significantly faster than v1.
- Advanced Semantic Matching: Upgraded prompt handling and context parsing for much higher precision search results.
- Cleaner UI & Better Error Handling: Fixed stability issues, added clearer status updates, and completely overhauled the user interface.
